Whether you’re building a new building, finishing an existing space, or remodeling your current space, flooring is one of the many elements you’ll need. Retail establishments vary as much as flooring, which is why there isn’t one best flooring for retail spaces. In fact, there is a lot to consider, some we’ll cover in today’s blog and some in our next one. Here are some things to think about before you call your commercial flooring company.
Your Brand/Image
A store offering high end designer goods needs flooring that reflects their image. On the other side of the spectrum, a store that sells bikes, skateboards, and other things with wheels may instead want concrete flooring with very little finish. Wood flooring or wood look flooring can be rustic and work in a vintage store. A different style of wood or wood look flooring can be modern and the best flooring for retail stores selling home décor or gifts.
Foot Traffic
No matter how big or small your store, people will be in and out in all types of weather. This is something to think about when choosing your flooring. In the overwhelming majority of retail establishments, we recommend commercial grade products. They’re simply more durable. And, with more foot traffic, comes wear and tear. Although even the best flooring for retail businesses will eventually need replacing, if you choose one that’s commercially rated, it will last longer than a residential one.
Budget
Not only do flooring materials differ in cost, but so does installation. Your commercial flooring company can help you understand what options you have in various materials. For example, a large format tile is more expensive to install than standard size tiles. If you’re trying to decide between commercial laminate or commercial luxury vinyl flooring, the installation of both should be close to the same, but you’ll find that commercial laminate flooring is generally less expensive to purchase.
