Love the Look of Wood Flooring but Want Tile Floors?

Choosing Wood Look PlankMany Tampa Bay area homeowners love the look of wood flooring but because of their lifestyle or the pool in the backyard, they know that tile floors are a better option. Tile manufacturers have taken notice and created incredible lines of wood plank tiles. Seer Flooring has extensive experience installing tile flooring including wood plank floors.

What are Wood Plank Tiles?

Wood plank tiles are tiles often made of porcelain that range from 24” to 48” in length and are generally between 6” and 12” wide. These tiles come in a variety of colors, patterns, and styles to allow you to emulate almost any real hardwood look you are interested in. Unlike traditional tile flooring, the edging of wood plank tiles are finished with the intent that they will be laid very close together, rather than the way traditional tiles are often laid with as much as 1/4” gap in between. A well trained installer will lay the tile in an offset pattern to further emulate the look of a real hardwood floor.

Choosing the Right Tile Flooring for Your Home

Whether you ultimately end up choosing a wood plank tile floor or another type of flooring, the process for selecting the right tile pattern for your home is the same. You want to look at the space you are considering installing the wood tiles. If it’s a smaller room, like a bathroom, consider choosing a shorter length and width board so as not to overwhelm the space. Look at your existing cabinetry and the natural light in the space and find something that will compliment it. Just like hardwood floors, a darker tile will make the room look smaller.
