Remodeling Tips to Make Your Small Bathroom Feel Bigger

Small Bathroom RemodelConsider these tips and tricks that can help a bathroom of any size feel bigger! At Seer, we’ve handled bathroom remodels for spaces of all shapes and sizes. Here are some of our favorite tips that may make your bathroom feel bigger.

Consider Rearranging

Often secondary bathrooms have a sink right inside the door, then a toilet, then a tub with a linen closet somewhere off to the side. Talk to your bathroom remodeling company about updating the layout. Can the tub be turned sideways? Or do you even need a tub at all? We do recommend every home have at least one tub, but sometimes the best thing you can do to make the space look bigger is to remove the largest element. A standing shower can be made to fit almost any space. When you remove the tub and have a shower instead, you may be able to add a longer vanity or two sinks which could improve the efficiency of the space. Sometimes talking about your small bathroom remodel with an experienced professional will help you find a solution you didn’t know existed.

Create Lines

Stand at the door of your bathroom and take a look at the tile. The shape of the tile creates lines that draw your eye inward. If you have a small bathroom, consider updating with tile flooring that is longer and thinner. Install it perpendicular to the door to lengthen the feel of the room. If you have tile around the shower, think about that tile’s shape and installation pattern as well.

Use Lighter Tones

Just as we’ve said about flooring over the years, the darker the color, the smaller the space will feel. If you have a small bathroom, look at light and bright tile flooring, countertops and vanity. Add color through your décor.
