Country Club Flooring Options

country club floors

Finding the right country club flooring can be a challenge. Especially when you have a large facility with many spaces all with different uses. Rarely do country clubs decide that every space needs the same type of flooring because they all have such different uses. When we help a country club remodel or work with the builder on choosing the right flooring, we have many options.

Carpet/Carpet Tiles

Carpet has been a mainstay in country clubs for decades. It looks great and provides the sound dampening many want in meeting rooms, offices and ballrooms. Today’s manufacturers offer countless patterns, and when you choose the carpet tiles, you can create a custom look easily. Admittedly one drawback is that carpet needs regular cleaning and ages faster than many country club flooring options.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring

In upscale country clubs, luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) is a popular option for many spaces. It has surpassed laminate as a material of choice in common areas and offices. Commercial grade luxury vinyl planks look like real wood, wear well, and are mostly waterproof. (However, we still don’t recommend it for commercial kitchens or bath and locker rooms.) It requires little maintenance and luxury vinyl flooring with an IIC rating of 50 or greater is more sound absorbing than some other durable flooring materials.

Tile

Because kitchens, locker rooms, and bathrooms all have a high potential for wet floors, tile is the best choice for those areas. Today’s tile manufacturers offer many sizes, styles and colors, including wood look tile. Unless you have a small multi-purpose room, you may not want tile throughout because it is hard to stand on and isn’t ideal for dancing. Perhaps the biggest benefit of tile is that golf shoes don’t scratch or dent tile.

Rubber Flooring

Rubber flooring is waterproof, durable and may be just the option you need in a locker room or gym. Rubber flooring comes in both tiles and rolls as well as many colors and patterns. It’s relatively slip resistant, waterproof, sound absorbing, and won’t be damaged when a weight is dropped on it.

Finished Concrete

Concrete staining and painting allows for a fancier appearance in any space. However, rarely is finished concrete the right choice for all the country club flooring. It is a great option for kitchens, bathrooms, locker rooms, and where your members and guests rent their golf carts as the shoe spikes won’t do any harm. We recommend including a non-slip additive to your finished concrete.
